Dakota guided me around today and gave me a few lesson in being a farmer. I don't know if I'm learning anything about using MC to foster language learning but I'm sure learning a lot about what it feels like to be completely incompetent and completely reliant on others.

Don, you just described the perfect substrate for language learning, feeling incompetent and reliant, enter a community, make friends, get them to help you.
ReplyDeleteI guess I did learn something. On today's hike I chopped down a tree totally unnecessarily. But at least I replanted one by cultivating the ground and sew seeds afterwards.
ReplyDeleteHahaha Don Carroll it's only your first Minecraft tour, take your time! It took me months to figure out the left and the right click on the mouse while building! My sons would laugh at me! I am sure you will get the idea soon enough! :) But as Vance Stevens just explained the point is not only in doing but in using the language to help others!
ReplyDeleteYou can do wonders in Minecraft, I didn't have a clue until I noticed what my sons have been creating. Of course, they also love a survival mod where one can also learn many interesting crafts in different situations!
