Minecraft Windows 10 Edition (free for anyone who purchased Java Edition before October 2018) can now be used with Code Connection - a free extension that "helps students learn how to code by connecting popular programming platforms to the game".
I created a small tutorial for installing this version and running it together with CC extension, by using as an example my Scratch PixelArt editor: https://kidslovetocode.wordpress.com/2019/02/24/pixelart-in-scratch-transferred-to-minecraft-using-code-connection/

I am trying to see if an Amazon free EC2 cloud server is usable for a few players, so I installed Spigot MC almost without plugins. I just added scriptcraft to prepare the workshop suggested by Aaron Schwartz.

If you want to help me test the server, you are welcome to connect to evomc.ddns.net

I tried to use a command to help me build something very big in one step, but I used a wrong parameter and I crashed the server. I hope that Aaron will be able to restart it soon.

Sorry for the downtime :(

Since September I teach CS and Technology Education for 5th and 6th grades at my children's school.

Since September I teach CS and Technology Education for 5th and 6th grades at my children's school. Last Friday we discussed about plants cultivation and we used Minecraft to show the impact of environment factors (soil, water and light) on plants growth as well as the related human activities.
We chose a nice place, we used our tools to flatten it and to improve it (by replacing podzol with fertile soil), we made plans for our farm then some of use created the irrigation system while others prepared the soil with hoes and planted the seeds. The harvest was then stored in nicely labelled chests.
Now the kids are waiting impatiently for the animal farming lesson :)

This time I have a question completely unrelated to Minecraft, but I'm sure you can help me:)  What books do you recommend for a 10 years old English learner?
He already read in original all Roald Dahl books for kids and complete Harry Potter & Diary of a Wimpy Kid collections. I just bought him The Chronicles of Narnia complete collection (for less than 1$ on Google Play Books) but I'm looking for other ideas too.

This is about the best I've been able to do so far.

This is about the best I've been able to do so far. I can't get comments to upload consistently to blogger. It might be a bandwidth ...
