Missed the first two days 'play' and tried to get in today but i'm stuck because I couldn't get in with my old version (10.2 - too old) and can't get in with the update (13.2) - it tells me the server is too old. How can I get the correct version?

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!

We all have different levels of knowledge and skills when it comes to playing Minecraft and using it with students. Also, the reason each of us decided to learn and experiment with it may also vary, and I am very curious :)

Could I ask everybody to share

1- how or why they decided to learn Minecraft and use it with students
2- those who have been using it with students, what was the first time you used it with your students like, what did your students think?

Please make sure to join Discord as it makes it easier to communicate with each other in general and also while we play. It also makes it easier to get help while on the Minecraft server.

Please feel free to ask questions or ask for help on Google+ or Discord and feel free to help others if you have the answer. :)

Happy learning

Hi everyone, I've queued this video to where Maha Abdelmoneim, Jane Chien, Heike Philp, and I started talking about #evomc19 EVO Minecraft MOOC at the Jan 12 EVO 2019 annual Kickoff event. We're on until about 53:45, one of a dozen sessions whose moderators spoke to those in attendance about each of their sessions. Enjoy :-)

it is "cringeworthy", but perhaps useful as a starting point for comparison on how to do a better one...

speaking of disoriented... (non-sequitur) that doesn't look right - I'm a "visual" speller...

A beginning is a very delicate time ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ7DkBFjLRI ). I remember growing up; when we weren't avoiding being stepped on by giant reptiles, we were gathered around the fire listening to stories. Around a certain time in the fall of each year, you would push the button on the storybox and the little imaginary beings would act out one of my favorite stories, one full of good truths. There was this young girl with a tiny dog who after a great storm found herself far from home, disoriented. She had to begin all over in a strange place, not knowing "how things worked"/"who was who"/"what was what"... in short she had to figure out what she was "supposed" to do.

A ways into the story, there is a spot where there is a big loud head, "telling" her all sorts of "important" things. The magic phrase "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" is uttered ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivRKfwmgrHY ), and it is the key to unlocking "hidden knowledge". Now, I don't remember all the details of the story, and I am certain that I am unsure of how it relates to what is going on here... but I do know, it IS a magic phrase.

What I have figured out, (if I remember correctly, never a good bet) is that there is noise, and there is truth. The "trick" to finding your way (to wherever your destination, be it "home", OR "out there") is to be able to sniff out the difference. And quite often the first step is just deciding where you "want" to go. "You" get to pick.

It IS kind of "vague and undefined" sometimes... LEAP on the opportunity to fill in the spaces... with YOUR choices. :)

Sunset views from today's build overnight after a long trek from the north. Dakotah Redstone must know about this temple, that's his village in the distance. How can we get newcomers to help us explore these places?

Group Photos at Steve Jenkinson's Village with Vance Stevens, Maha Abdelmoneim, Mattie Tsai, Jacob, and Emanuel. Jacob, Steve's son, was showing us how to ride on a IIama and change saddles of different beautiful patterns! Then we went hunting with Jacob, with Emanuel, Bardrose, and I riding on llamas. Later Mircea Patrascu joined us and helped us find Jacob who got lost during hunting for rabbits. XD Thanks Jacob for showing Mattie and Emanuel how to tame llamas. They are usually found on extreme hills. In our case, we warped to alpacapoint, a house built on top of an extreme hill, and searched for llamas there. In the third photo, you will see Matt, Jacob, and Emanual leading 7 llamas on their trip back to the village in the desert. Today, the kids discussed (argued about) words “lead" vs. "leash," different ways of pronouncing potatoes from a song (thanks to Steve), and llamas vs. alpacas. Interesting!!!

Adorable to spend the time with Dakota, who was ever so helpful and the "Kelly Family" Jane, Mattei and Iceman.

Adorable to spend the time with Dakota, who was ever so helpful and the "Kelly Family" Jane, Mattei and Iceman. They introduced me to Glitch Gulch and Enfield, two small towns connected by a train/ transport system. How much I learned from all of them and how many items they gave me, so sweet. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Looking forward to more!

Hello all, it's high time we welcomed you to your EVO Minecraft experience for 2018.

Hello all, it's high time we welcomed you to your EVO Minecraft experience for 2018. I hope you've found our syllabus and missions wiki, the former linked to the latter and visa versa. It tells you what you should be doing this week and next, http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/w/page/121438998/2018_week1.

When I pasted that link it brought up a screen shot of how find things in the G+C, as you see in the thumbnail attached to this post.

You need to do three things asap. One is to join this community. The second is to purchase Minecraft if you haven't already and get a user name. The third is to fill in the registration form at http://tinyurl.com/evomc18-register and provide your MC user name there.

That leads to a 4th thing, which is to join us on the server. To see how to do that see 'server info' in the categories in the sidebar at left. So far we've whitelisted everyone who's given us that info via the form. Let us know if you've been left out (but please fill in the form first).

I'm going to produce a Doodle shortly and post it here so we can see who can meet on the server and at what times. This first couple of weeks is for tooling up, getting organized, and getting to know each other. We have an events page (in the wiki) and we'll fill that in with some "server parties" once we know when a quorum can make it there.

Apart from that come on over to the server. Lots of shelter there. If you get hit by a monster, no problem, it's painless and you just get us and try again. If you see someone online say hi (in Text chat) or in Discord if you have it working.

Above all, ASK QUESTIONS and we'll see you there. I'm going there now, for half an hour or so (bed time, work comes early tomorrow)
