We will be warping and teleporting to various interesting sites on our Minecraft server. During the event, you can join us in Minecraft if you are whitelisted there, or watch the tour and chat with us at the Adobe presentation venue, http://lancelot.adobeconnect.com/virtual-round-table; or you can watch the livestream on https://www.youtube.com/user/letstalkonlinedotcom/live.

Our presentation is followed at 15:30 UTC by a Workshop on How to build in Minecraft. It's free but places are limited, so you need to register at http://vrtwebcon2018.eventbrite.com. You need to have a Mojang login to participate hands-on at the mc.guinevereproject.eu server.

Hi everyone.

Hi everyone. There is good news and bad. The sad bad news is that today is the last day of #evomc18. The happy glad news is that it is also the first day of #evomc19, or the start of a time of transition between the two. With so much relying on the efforts of so many unpaid but passionately dedicated volunteers there is never a guarantee of who will be with us one year to the next, but EVO Minecraft MOOC has boosted me personally even closer to geek status in Ito's stages of gamesmanship, if I haven't reached there already. I'm certainly enjoying the ride and loving having the rest of you along on each other's shared personal learning journeys.

A few end of session details:
1. Please fill in the brief EVO participant survey for EVO Minecraft MOOC. It should take less than 5 min for you tell EVO how you found #EVOMC18. The link is here: https://goo.gl/forms/4sIrBRcgeDZA4DpD3
2. If you are going for a badge, you have until end of March to join our Survivor's Badge spreadsheet with your Google ID and fill in your missions accomplished here http://tinyurl.com/evomc18-badgetrack
3. You are welcome to join us at the EVO wrap up session live streamed from Bb Collaborate, 1400 UTC Feb 25, details here: http://tinyurl.com/learning2gether
4. I have been given a certificate template and will do my best to find time to distribute these in some way shape or form to moderators and participants.
5. You are welcome to pop by our Minecraft server and continue to post here. We've been here the past 4 years. We're not going anywhere as long as OU pays its electricity bills :-). Well there are also the valiant efforts of our server team, Jeff Kuhn and Aaron Schwartz. A big cheer.

Some of the above is spelled out in our Missions wiki, http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/w/page/121439046/2018_week5

More from us later. I'm in MC now. Maha Abdelmoneim has just popped in.

The Doodle Polls have hardly been popular this time around though that hasn't prevented us from gathering online for many satisfying encounters amongst ourselves this #evomc18 session. If you'd like to use the polls to increase chances that someone might see when you'll be available, I've set some up for Feb 13-17. Find them here

You can find our polls listed on our live events page

Greetings all, it's the last week of EVO.

Greetings all, it's the last week of EVO. And #evomc18 is in its 5th week. And evomc#18 is a continuation of #evomc15, 16, and 17, and there may very well be an #evomc19, so it's not the end of EVO Minecraft MOOC, as long as there is a server running to play on, which there continues to be thanks to Aaron Schwartz and Jeff Kuhn.

As MOOCs go, this last week's stage is the focus one. As dave cormier says, in MOOCs people orient, make themselves known to others (declare), network, cluster (as one or two dozen of us have done in these last few weeks), and a good example of focus is Don Carroll and Jane Chien's research project, which might have a life of its own after evomc18, and also my offer to you to consider publishing your reflections on using Minecraft in your workplace in TESL-EJ if you would like to write them up. So all in all a successful MOOC again this year.

If you want to see how we envisage this last week of EVOMC18, you can see our missions wiki here, http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/w/page/121439046/2018_week5

There you see you can (1) continue to interact in Minecraft, (2) still get help if you need it just by asking us, (3) work toward your Survivor's Badge if you wish, and (4) fill out the EVO survey of all EVO sessions, including this one, here https://goo.gl/forms/4sIrBRcgeDZA4DpD3. (Please)

Our live events this time around have mainly been in-world ones, and you can find us in world by filling in the Doodle polls you find here:
http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/w/page/121439859/2018_Live_Events

If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or reports of outstanding success just leave us a post, or reply here.

On Feb 4, 2018 Alexander Hayes helped us kick off Week 4 in #EVOMC18 by meeting in HoA with participants including Mircea Patrascu, Maha Abdelmoneim, Jo Kay, Jane Chien, and Don Carroll. Alex presented his slides on the Minecraft dilemma at https://goo.gl/ETWD2H for about an hour, followed by another hour of stimulating discussion. You can watch the video here.

I've set up two more Doodle polls for Feb 5 thru 8th. You can find the links as well as more information about Alex's talk at our Live Events page, http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/w/page/121439859/2018_Live_Events. Fill in the polls if you want us to look for you online; otherwise just turn up by following instructions in the Server link at the sidebar of this G+C. Let us know if you need someone to whitelist you (I'm off to work in a hurry just now).

Hi all, I'm looking forward to getting back into world this evening my time.

Hi all, I'm looking forward to getting back into world this evening my time. The time is on the Doodle poll I've posted for today and tomorrow. I've also posted one for the first two days in February. Find these polls at our #evomc18 live events page, http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/w/page/121439859/2018_Live_Events#DoodlepollforTueWedJan3031

Scroll up from that entry to find the video we recorded when we streamed from underwater last Sunday. The stream was enacted when I saw that at least three of us would be online at the same time, so please fill in the polls so we can record more of our interactions there. If you don't want to put in all the times you'll be available, at least find times when you see other people there and add your name. If I'm around I might stream it.

Hi all.

Hi all. Welcome to week 3 of #EVOMC18. This is our Networking week but it seems many of us have moved on to clustering behaviors already. This morning I saw from the interactive map a cluster of workers building just south of the EVOMC18 spawn point, and Don Carroll a.k.a. Abu Fletcher has found even more temples.

Meanwhile Doodle has shown that a quorum of miners will be online between 1400 and 1600 UTC today. I plan to try and stream from in world at that time using Discord for voice. The stream will come out on my YouTube channel. I have to go to work just now, but there will be more information about this posted at http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/w/page/121439859/2018_Live_Events#Week3Jan28Feb03Networking.

Check it our and join us if you can, online or in the stream. If the stream works, there will be a recording. See you there :-)

Welcome to Week 2 in #EVOMC18.

Welcome to Week 2 in #EVOMC18. We are following a natural progression in MOOCs, Orient, Declare, Network, Cluster, Focus. We strive to achieve missions as we progress through the stages, see http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/.

We have just entered "Declare" week, when we record who we are and why we are here. Just look around in the G+ Community. The posts show people joining in and having fun. It's never too late. Don Carroll is a complete newbie who is crossing oceans (virtual ones, in MC). Jane Chien was a noob a year ago and is now a moderator. If you are reading this and want to come along on our adventures, join the community and fill in our registration form, http://tinyurl.com/evomc18-register . Tell us your MC User Name and we'll whitelist you, meet you online, and show you what to do.

How can you meet us? I'm going online at around 1400 UTC and finding several there already. Few people are filling in our Doodle polls. The polls are listed at http://missions4evomc.pbworks.com/w/page/121439859/2018_Live_Events. If you can join us today, find the poll there and tell us when you'll be online.

I've just created a poll for Tue/Wed Jan 23-24. Find it here or just register with us, get yourself whitelisted, and come aboard. If you want to be systematic, here's the poll:

He everyone, I'm Vance one of the moderators of #evomc18.

He everyone, I'm Vance one of the moderators of #evomc18. I teach EFL in Al Ain, UAE. I have been interested in Minecraft for a long time, and one day I decided, by golly, I'm just going to get a community together and learn what all the fuss is about. So I became a moderator of an EVO session about MC though I knew nothing about how to play. I had found the killer way to learn though, and over the next three years I have become somewhat proficient thanks to the community we have attracted here.

You too can learn this way. Just get in the game and get to know the players, and they will help you overcome any obstacle you want to surmount. You'll learn about gamification through your experience in our participatory culture, and you'll have fun doing it.

I have a problem now though. Since returning to the UAE I have been experiencing lags that retard rezzing of backgrounds and have constrained my moving about in MC with full agility (same computer that was working fine in Malaysia). I'm working on resolving the issues, but school has just started as well, so I'm lacking time and am getting off to a slow start. At least I've got this introduction written and I hope to come up to speed as moderator asap.

I constructed a tower in the new location which should be visible from afar. Looking forward to connecting with others on the server as we prepare for #evomc18

This is about the best I've been able to do so far.

This is about the best I've been able to do so far. I can't get comments to upload consistently to blogger. It might be a bandwidth ...
