He everyone, I'm Vance one of the moderators of #evomc18. I teach EFL in Al Ain, UAE. I have been interested in Minecraft for a long time, and one day I decided, by golly, I'm just going to get a community together and learn what all the fuss is about. So I became a moderator of an EVO session about MC though I knew nothing about how to play. I had found the killer way to learn though, and over the next three years I have become somewhat proficient thanks to the community we have attracted here.
You too can learn this way. Just get in the game and get to know the players, and they will help you overcome any obstacle you want to surmount. You'll learn about gamification through your experience in our participatory culture, and you'll have fun doing it.
I have a problem now though. Since returning to the UAE I have been experiencing lags that retard rezzing of backgrounds and have constrained my moving about in MC with full agility (same computer that was working fine in Malaysia). I'm working on resolving the issues, but school has just started as well, so I'm lacking time and am getting off to a slow start. At least I've got this introduction written and I hope to come up to speed as moderator asap.
