Hi everyone, I'm writing from Taipei, Taiwan.

Hi everyone, I'm writing from Taipei, Taiwan. I teach pre-service ELL teachers at the National Taipei University of Education. My son, Mattie, loves Minecraft. He's in 3rd grade now. He enjoys watching Popularmmos play Minecraft on YouTube. He's learned a lot of English expressions by watching people play and by playing Minecraft himself. I've always wanted to see how I can promote English language learning with Minecraft and convince parents to allow their sons and daughters to join the adventure.

Hello everyone

Hello everyone,

My name's David Dodgson and I am the ICT Coordinator at the British Council in Bahrain.

I have a keen interest in games in language education and blog about it here: https://eltsandbox1.wordpress.com/

My interest actually began with Minecraft when I saw the amazing impact it had on my students when I worked in Turkey. Students who generally lacked motivation to learn and sue English were suddenly trying to read books and watch videos designed for native speakers to understand more about the game. Even better, they collaborated to form a common understanding of the language in front of them.

We later used Minecraft for projects and I ran a Minecraft club after school. I haven't used the game much since moving to Bahrain last year so I am hoping to get some new ideas from this EVO session.

Looking forward to it!

Hi all, a Doodle has been set up to try and organize a meet-up at our EVO Minecraft server at some point (or several) in the week running up to our Jan 8 start date. If you would like to join us you can signal your availability by accessing the poll linked here.

Please note that we white-list bonafide participants in EVOMC17 on our server. In order to be whitelisted you need to own a Minecraft login, you should be running Discord for voice in world, and you need to join this community and fill out this form where you let us know more about your interest in our session: http://tinyurl.com/evomc17-register.

This session is mainly for moderator planning and coordination but if you are keen to join us and follow the procedure for whitelisting, I see no objection.

Our session will start Jan 8 and we'll issue more Doodle polls at that time to try and plan our in-world meet-ups.

Hi everyone, I'm one of the coordinators of EVO and you might say the "lead" moderator of EVOMC17 though probably the least proficient in Minecraft of all our other moderators you'll meet here.

I'd like to welcome you if you decide to join us in this session, and let you know what you have to do in order to participate. First you need to JOIN this community using a name recognizable to a group of academic peers. And second, you should fill in the registration form here, http://tinyurl.com/evomc17-register.

On the form you'll be asked to provide your Minecraft user name (so we can whitelist you), so you'll need to have purchased a user name from Mojang (sorry, $30, can't be avoided). Or if you want to register whatever details you have you might be able to update the form later, or you can submit a new record (and we can eliminate the previous submission from our dbase).

Apart from that, read over the syllabus and find your missions week to week, and we get started on Sunday Jan 8. If you have any questions feel free to post here. Otherwise I'll be back in touch then.

This is clever! I can't wait to show my engineer students this mod.
