Hi everyone, I'm Vance Stevens, founder of Webheads in Action and coordinator of http://learning2gether.net, and one of the coordinators for EVO for the past 15 years. I'm the lead coordinator for #evomc16 though we couldn't do it without help from Aaron Schwartz and Jeff Kuhn who've set up our Minecraft server in Ohio and all the other great moderators here who are about to help you learn all you are able to absorb about Minecraft.
I'm an EFL teacher in Al Ain UAE which means it's bed time for me so I leave you to orient on our course while the server team organizes how to get you on our server so we can start learning Minecraft together.

Our first live event is at 15:15 UTC Jan 12, http://tinyurl.com/learning2gether. First 2-3 weeks in Minecraft are in creative mode, so newbies, learn all you can asap. Week 4 we'll start survival mode, but don't worry we'll learn how to collaborate in world to get you through it.
Make sure you obtain your Minecraft login (about $30, nothing we can do about that, sorry) and let's learn about gamification in language learning using one of the most engaging games for nurturing creative thinking on the planet.
