this week I attended the Digital Pedagogy Lab institute in Cairo 20-24 March16 and during one of the un-conferencing sessions that I lead I mentioned Minecreaft being used in education and some participants became interested in connecting with educators who use it for teaching and learning. If any of you would like to connect with those educators from Egypt and around the world please let me know so I can pass the information to them. thanks.

I'd love to connect to them, Maha Abdelmoneim . I opened my realm to my students. Slowly , the ones with accounts are asking to join it. I'm going to report soon how it is going with them. :)
ReplyDeleteRose Bard thank you so much Rose. I will put your name in our google doc but you can also add any information or modes of contacting you that you prefer https://docs.google.com/document/d/11u9dIt6nxbFe3r3HoXW8qtIAwbs-5SPLv0V5qBHMEmI/edit
ReplyDeleteI would love to know how it goes in your class :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Maha Abdelmoneim At the moment, students are free to join the realm. It's not part of the curriculum and it was students initiative to ask to join. The first week was just to play together and understanding their preferences to help me design the space for them. I posted yesterday in our class wiki a video of the tour and a bit of what I am learning about redstone and logic gates, and the response from some students who are not in the realm was positive. Couple of other students are going to buy their accounts to join us. It's sad though that there are students who would love to join but can't afford buying accounts.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of buying extra accounts and let students borrow it until they can either convince their parents to buy or save enough to buy it themselves. My supervisor is aware that I am in this safe space playing with them in my free time. Some parents know too and didn't mind. I'm worried though whether other students will get excited and can't afford... and parents might not like it.
